McHuron Illustrations on Exhibit at National Museum of Wildlife Art

Birds of Sage and Scree is an exhibit of 27 paintings by RMPAP member Greg McHuron with text by naturalist, writer, and Rungius Medal recipient Bert Raynes. The paintings and text celebrate the birds, mammals, vegetation, and terrain covered by sagebrush and steep rocky scree slopes throughout the western United States.  The show will be on display March 4 – April 18, 2010.   A companion book, also called Birds of Sage and Scree, will be published in late Spring 2010.

RMPAP Artists Invited to Paint at the Grand Canyon

RMPAP members  Linda Glover-Gooch, William Scott Jennings, Jeanne Mackenzie, Erin O’ Connor and Dave Santillanes have been selected to participate in the 2010 Grand Canyon Celebration of Art at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.

Hoffman Receives Top Award in International Competition

Jennifer L. Hoffman was awarded Best of Show for her pastel painting, Winding Through, in the First Annual Autumn Arts Painting Challenge.  The painting will be on display from March 1-31, 2010 at the Bucks County Gallery of Art (http://www.buckscountygalleryart.com) in New Hope, PA.  View the show online at http://www.autumnpaintingchallenge.blogspot.com.   The painting also was published in the March issue of American Artist Magazine and the April issue of the Pastel Journal.

Tom Lockhart, a  full member of the Northwest Rendezvous, will be attending that group’s annual event in Helena, Montana, which will be held August 14 – 21. In addition to the NWR, Tom will also be participating in the 19th Annual Colorado Watercolor Society’s annual show (opening 3/5/2010), the Greeley Independence Day Stampede Art Show & Sale (June 25, 2010), and the Cheyenne Frontier Days Art Show (July 15-18, 2010).

Datz wins Award at 2009 Plein Air Southwest Show

Stephen Datz’s painting “Water Rights” was awarded the Outdoor Painter’s Society Award Of Merit at the 2009 Plein Air Southwest Show, held at Southwest Gallery in Dallas, TX. The Texas-based OPS organizes the annual event, which brings together plein-air work from several paint-outs held during the year. This year’s show was judged by Gay Faulkenberry. The award carried with it a $500 cash prize.
